Prayer attributed to Henry V before
the Battle of Agincourt
O God, who knows us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright; Grant us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers this day and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Prayer of Henry V before Agincourt
O God of battles! Steel my soldiers' hearts; Possess then not with fear; take from them now the sense of reckoning, if the opposed numbers pluck their hearts from them. Not today, O Lord, O, not today, think not upon the fault. More will I do; though all that I can do is nothing worth, Since that my penitence comes after all, imploring pardon.
